About Ratu Rabeka Soronabaravi Drauna
I am a marine scientist and Master of Science (Zoology) student at the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand. My research focuses on improving the preservation of yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares) ovarian tissue to support reliable histological assessment of reproductive maturity and contribute to more accurate fisheries stock assessments. With experience in marine science communication, biological research, laboratory work, and student support, I am passionate about advancing marine science, improving research practices, and supporting the sustainable management of Pacific marine resources. I aim to bridge practical challenges in fisheries research with evidence-based solutions that benefit scientists, fisheries managers, and the wider Pacific region.
